Organizing a Transition Initiative

The following documents describe the overall process by which a local Transition Initiative becomes "certified" - that is, recognized - by the larger Transition community. They are taken from the Transition Network sub-site within the Transition Towns web site:

The 12 Key Steps of the Transition journey form a roadmap for creating a Transition Initiative in a local area. They are listed on the Transition Towns website, at the link above, but Rob Hopkins, the founder of Transition, has made a video in which he explains the steps in more detail.

The video is stored on YouTube in two sections:

Steps 1-6

Steps 7-12

All that brings up the question, "So where do we learn how to do all this?" Transition United States is building a complete curriculum to train people in how to do Transition. You can read about it on this page on the TransitionUS web site. Here are some direct links from that site:

We're currently working with Transition United States for Transition Austin to host a Training for Transition event in Austin on March 26-28, 2010. For more information on the Austin course, visit this page on our site.
